Our Weekend

So I woke up sick Saturday morning, so Chris took the boys to the Nashville zoo by himself. I took a nice long nap and the house was so quiet, pretty weird!

Saturday afternoon we went on a drive of a surrounding town. We went to walmart, I needed some new makeup. Exciting, I tell you.

Chris and I had a date night after the boys went to bed. This is somewhat of a weekly tradition. the YMCA offers babysitting for nights out once a month, but they have to be 3 years old, so we have a little over a year to do that. We ordered a pizza and watched NCIS LA on demand. We are old married people!

Friday we took the boys to play at the HUGH McDs play space and for ice cream.

We were suppose to have the Elders for dinner tonight, but there is a rule they can only eat at members homes with an investigator or less active. We didn't know. I was just glad I hadn't doubled the chicken taco soup recipe. Hey at least we have dinner made for Monday!

Chris spoke in sacrament meeting on President Uchtdorf's Love of God conference talk. The second speaker also chose the same talk.

We all had afternoon naps! I talked with my good friend Susan for 90 minutes (thanks again!) and my mom! A great afternoon and weekend! how was yours'?

Wii

Josh and I did some Christmas shopping today (since he doesn't know what is going on really and can't tell:). I got our wii. Now I want to know what some of your favorite family games are?

Thanks!

A Typical Day

Today...

1. We all slept in! (daylight savings has been hard on all of us, especially after just moving from ET to CT!) The boys didn't get up today until AFTER 6:45AM!! (this is progress for us.)

2. Laundry, breakfast, scriptures, dishes, getting ready for the day.

3. Off to work and the YMCA. I dropped the boys and went to an awesome step class.

4. I took the boys swimming on sticky. This is the name of the frog water slide. We played with another little family and that made for more fun.

5. Drove around trying to find target (I know of one about 10-15 minutes away, but supposedly there is one closer in our city, but no such luck in finding it, but I didn't get lost, which is a big accomplishment for me!)

6. Chick-Fil-A for lunch and play time! I love their grilled chicken! SO yummy!

7. Story time followed by naps for the boys.

8. Laundry folding, dinner prep and I watched "The good wife" on demand. I hadn't seen it before, but I really enjoyed it despite not really knowing what was going on. I also love free on demand! I mean I can watch shows that I like without commercials, I can fast forward, and see the ones that are on too late or I don't have time for when they air!

9. Games (frogger and puzzles), dance time (I'm a Good kid), and the boys "helped" me clean. Josh especially enjoyed dumping the folded laundry off the coffee table onto the floor:) Dinner, bath and finally bed! I don't know how people have energy to do much after the kids go to bed. I am ready for bed myself!

How was your day?

P.S. This week we also went to story time. Caleb started at his new preschool. He met with the pastor (they go the first Wed of the month) where they learned how God loves him. They also learned about turkeys. We are getting more into a normal routine, which is good for all of us. Josh has started a crying phase when I drop him at the Y babysitter. I am told it lasts for no more than 30 seconds after I leave, so he wants me to feel bad, I guess. It is odd because the first few times he was okay, but i am sure he will out grow it quickly.

Target Holiday Deals

http://sites.target.com/images/2009HolidayCoupons/holiday_coupons_print.html

The link above give you the target coupons for the Christmas season. I am most thrilled about the $10 off Wii games. In addition this week at target you buy 2 you get 1 free, plus with this coupon you could get the $50 games, 3 for $90 or the $20 games, 3 for $30. We are planning a wii this year, so you can bet a trip to target is on the to do list while Caleb is at preschool tomorrow.

I hope to have shopping completed by Thanksgiving. By the way, we are going to Jacksonville for Thanksgiving. Chris's company has a plant there he needs to take a business trip to so we will combine it with the holiday and have nearly a week there. He is the metallurgist for the entire company, which is 7 plants, thus the need to travel so much. I guess in May he will be going to BC, which will be really cool for a training. His first trip is ironically to Cleveland in a couple of weeks.

Photo Book

Snapfish is having a buy one get one free deal if you order by the end of the 6th. The code is FALLBOOKS09.

I was going to attempt to do it, but I don't really have the desire right now, so I thought I could at least share the deal with y'all (is that the way you write it? I hear it all the time now:).

Incompetency

I am speaking of the government. We applied for unemployment every Sunday (the required day) for the past 6 weeks since Chris was laid off. We have yet to get one check. It is a good thing we didn't need it. Sure it would be nice, but we aren't holding our breath.

We got a letter last Friday that said our payments would start on the 20th of September. Ha, that has come and gone.

What happened was Chris applied the first time he was laid off, but then it was canceled, so he canceled the claim.

Then he was laid off for real and he called them and they told him nothing out of the norm needed to be done, the payments would begin within a week. That week came and went.

The next week he called and they said they needed a copy of his SS card. He faxed that within the hour. We would get it the next week. Again it came and went.

Last week he called and they said his employer had until Nov 2nd to get back to them and let them know he was let go because of lack of work. That is today and supposedly we will get payment within a week.

Like I said it was a good thing we didn't need it. If anyone treated the government as poorly as they treat the citizens that pay for them they would fired. A good reason not to ever depend on the government. The right hand doesn't know what each finger is doing.

Good Friends

Susan took this picture of the boys and her girls a few weeks ago when they babysat for our swap. They have been friends since they were 18 months old. We miss them so much and wanted to post this picture so we can always look back and remember the great times with them. Thank you for being wonderful friends! We miss you.

Trunk Or Treat

Last night our new ward, Hendersonville had a trunk or treat with another ward in the stake at the stake center. (our stake center is actually only 10 minutes away, but we go to another building that is about 25 minutes away because they divided the ward.) It was raining, so it ended up being classroom to classroom. There were actually only 10 doors with candy, so I don't think everyone brought stuff. I just assumed everyone should. Apparently we were also suppose to bring things to decorate the car/room with, but since we had never been to a trunk or treat before we didn't really know what to expect. They went all out with prizes and everything, so I felt sort of sheepish.

Anyway the event started at 6pm with games and dinner. They had probably 10 plus games, a cake walk, basketball, ring toss, bottle toss, etc. The kids won tickets to get little prizes. Caleb got a mini flashlight with battery and Josh and Caleb each got some play dough.

Dinner was chili and hot dogs with homemade rootbeer. I had a sip of the rootbeer and decided it wasn't for me.

We had hoped to meet some people, but that didn't really happen. It was hard knowing who was in our ward and who was in the other. An older man did talk with us. We asked him, "what ward are you in?" He said, "I'm in your guys." Apparently he recognized us, but not the other way around. A lady who is in the nursery also said hi when she was taking her kids pass my room for candy. I asked her about a play group and she said their is one with another ward and she would get me info and she said we should get together sometime.

There were also 2 bad experiences. The sisters who taught RS and the member of the RS presidency who conducted on Sunday walked by my room (by themselves and before kids were coming). I smiled at both and both looked at me and said nothing. I don't know what I should take from that. I am pretty sure they knew who I was, but I have no idea their names or anything. We shall see. It is hard starting over again and I didn't really want to go to this not knowing anyone, but the kids had fun and that is what is important.

We didn't know what they would dress up as until yesterday evening. Caleb decided he would be a construction worker and then be a transformer for the real halloween. Josh is a cowboy/sheriff. I had an old pumpkin costume he wore last year, but it just didn't suit him this year. I have a mickey mouse costume in storage, but I wasn't digging that out. I think he made a cute cowboy anyway. Tonight we are going trick or treating at the mall since we do not know any neighborhoods anyway.

We are off to the YMCA this morning. Chris is going to attend a class with me! It is called ultimate fitness and then I hope to catch the last half of zumba (they have multiple classes going on at the same time and overlapping). Chris isn't into classes, he says he isn't coordinated, but I am excited to have him do it with me, it was his idea, not mine. He says he needs to get back into a regular fitness schedule of a few days a week and the Y is on the way home so that will be move convenient.
